Abstract

The purpose of this article is to identify and analyze the appropriate

management style for the newsroom in contemporary media organizations.

Given the fundamental role of the newsroom in the production, organization,

and rapid dissemination of information, this study examines which management

style demonstrates greater efficiency and effectiveness within the dynamic and

complex environment of the newsroom. The main focus of the article is on

examining different management styles and adapting them to the specific nature

of news activities through a review-based library study. This research was

conducted using a descriptive-analytical method based on library research. Data

were collected through the review of reliable sources in the fields of general

management, media management, news management, and studies related to

newsroom structure and transformations. In total, books and scientific articles

were analyzed in order to systematically examine the relationship between

management theories and the practical realities of the newsroom. The findings

of the study indicate that, due to its unique characteristics such as news

timeliness, high speed, real-time decision-making, diversity of specialized

human resources and strong dependence on digital technologies, the newsroom

requires a flexible management style. Accordingly, the contingency

management style was identified as the most suitable option, as it enables

managerial decisions to adapt to changing internal and external organizational

conditions and enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of newsroom

management.
